AngloGold Ashanti — Dam Safety in VR 360

A complete immersive production — from field capture to post-production and delivery — for AngloGold Ashanti's dam safety program. The project delivered an interactive VR 360 experience for Meta Quest 3 and a version for a mapped projection room, used to train and raise awareness among teams, contractors and visitors about the safety procedures for the structures.

Context

Dams require continuous and systematic monitoring — field inspections, geotechnical instrumentation readings, real-time remote monitoring and periodic technical assessments, in addition to oversight by agencies such as ANM and Civil Defense. The content supports communication on critical topics such as the Geotechnical Monitoring Center (CMG), the Self-Rescue Zone (ZAS), flood maps, the siren alert system, and escape routes and meeting points.

The solution

• VR 360 experience (Meta Quest 3): an application built in Unity, with immersive navigation, interactivity and a hands-on emergency simulation — from the siren sounding to arriving at the meeting point.
• Mapped projection version: the same content adapted for a projection room, extending the reach of in-person training sessions.
• Guided narrative in modules: dam safety, CMG monitoring, the scale of the structures, the ZAS, flood map, alert and siren system, risk-area signage, access control, escape routes and meeting points — with voice-over in Portuguese and English.

Production

The work covered the entire cycle: script and concept, 360 field capture, treatment and assembly, editing and post-production, motion/graphics and finishing — through to the delivery of both versions (VR and projection). Finishing also included the visual identity and end screens with the company's safety messages.

AI as an accelerator

Artificial intelligence was used in concept processes and to produce the Portuguese and English voice-overs, cutting iteration time and cost — always with quality control and human review at every delivery.

Outcome

Immersive content that turns procedure into experience: instead of reading a manual, the audience lives through what to do when the siren sounds, which way to go and where to gather — reinforcing a culture of prevention and emergency preparedness.
